Did you know that there are many benefits to undergoing assisted reproductive technologies (IUI) compared to just having a child naturally? IUI, or in vitro fertilization (IVF) allows couples to have children using their own eggs — which would otherwise be discarded because of their age. IUI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection) is a fertility treatment that has become more popular in the last few years. It’s similar to IVF in that it involves harvesting your eggs from your ovaries and then fertilizing them with sperm from someone else. But there are many more benefits than just the birth of your baby. IUI stands for In-Cervical Stimulation. This procedure is a form of fertility treatment that involves stimulating the lady’s hormones to prevent ovulation and fertilization. There are thousands of couples who want to see byt this result achieved. It is through IUI that many men can have children with a single donor egg, and also women can overcome difficult issues such as low egg quality or diminished ovarian reserve.
IVF offered as an infertility treatment for couples with age 35 or above age couple. It is used to treat many causes of infertility: Older women damage or blockage of the pelvic arteries (which may result from pelvic inflammatory disease or past surgery)
The Society for Reproductive Technologies (SART) says the birth rate via in vitro fertilization for women under 35 approx 55.7%. The birth rate in the first embryo transfer approx 41.3%. Birth rate in second embryo transfer is around approx 47.1%.
IUI is a simple procedure that can be done in a doctor’s office. It involves the doctor placing sperm directly into the uterus. The sperm swim through the cervix and into the fallopian tube. The IUI procedure is most often used when a couple has unexplained infertility, meaning they cannot get pregnant despite having regular unprotected intercourse for one year or more. It also may be used as a first step in treatment after other fertility treatments have failed to result in pregnancy. IUI may be an option for couples who are not ready to use assisted reproductive technology (ART) such as in vitro fertilisation (IVF). However, some insurance companies refuse to cover IUI if you use donor eggs or donor sperm because it is considered experimental.
IUI: Intrauterine insemination involves placing sperm inside a woman’s uterus to facilitate fertilization. IVF: In vitro fertilization involves fertilizing an egg with sperm outside the body and then implanting the embryo into the uterus.
IUI is done by placing washed and processed sperm directly into a woman’s uterus using a thin catheter, timed around ovulation.
The number of cycles recommended varies for each individual and depends on factors such as age, fertility diagnosis, and response to treatment. Typically, doctors suggest trying 3-6 cycles before considering other options.
